Nepal has two serious bungee jumps worth knowing about. At Bhotekoshi, 160 meters above the Bhote Koshi River near the Nepal-Tibet border, you get the country's first and most iconic leap. At Kushma, 228 meters above the Kaligandaki Gorge near Pokhara, you get the world's second-highest. Himalayan Ecstasy Nepal runs both as 1-day packages from their respective base cities, with pickup, lunch, and all fees included. This page covers both options clearly so you can choose based on where you are and what you want.

Nepal is one of the few countries with two genuinely world-class bungee jumps operating at the same time. Both differ significantly in height, gorge setting, drive distance, and base city. So before picking one, it helps to understand exactly what each involves.

If you are planning a Nepal trip that covers both Kathmandu and Pokhara, you can realistically fit both into a single visit.

Which Bungee Jump Should You Do?

Nepal has two major bungee options worth knowing about before you book. One is here at Bhotekoshi. The other is the Kushma bungee in Gandaki Province, above the Kaligandaki River near Pokhara.

If you are based in Kathmandu and want to do this in a single day, Bhotekoshi is the clear choice. The Last Resort is 100 km from the city, the logistics are simple, and the experience is properly intense on its own.

If you are already traveling to Pokhara or planning an extended trip in that direction, the Kushma jump makes far more sense. We run a separate package for that.

Trying to travel from Kathmandu to Kushma and back in one day is not realistic. So if Kathmandu is your base and you want a full day of this kind of adventure, this is where you jump!

About the Bhotekoshi Jump

The Last Resort sits in Sindhupalchok District, about 100 km northeast of Kathmandu on the Araniko Highway. You follow the Bhote Koshi River upstream for roughly 3 to 4 hours.

The gorge narrows and steepens as you go. By the time you arrive, the setting has already made its impression!

The jump platform is built into a suspension bridge directly above the gorge. At 160 meters, the freefall ranks among Asia's top 10 highest bungee sites.

Nepal's Kushma bungee over the Kaligandaki River has since reached 228 meters. Still, Bhotekoshi remains the country's original bungee site, with over two decades of continuous operation.

One of New Zealand's leading bungee consultants designed the site. Swiss engineers built the bridge specifically for bungee operations, meeting a 4x safety standard with a loading capacity of 41,500 kg.

Jump masters hold international training credentials! They inspect equipment regularly, and every participant completes a weight assessment and safety briefing before the jump.

What Bhotekoshi Bungee Day Looks Like

You meet at the departure point in Kathmandu early in the morning. The drive follows the Araniko Highway and passes through Dhulikhel. From there, the road traces the Bhote Koshi River all the way to the resort entrance.

After check-in, jump masters measure your weight and walk you through the safety briefing. Different cords are used for different weight ranges, so this step is not optional.

Jump masters then lead groups out to the bridge. When your turn comes, you walk to the edge, look down 160 meters at the river, and jump!

The freefall lasts a few seconds. After that, the cord brings you back. Most people describe the rebound as the part they were not expecting.

Buffet lunch at the resort follows the jump. The return drive gets you back to Kathmandu in the late afternoon.

Requirements:

  • Minimum age is 18.
  • Your weight needs to fall between 40 kg and 100 kg.
  • Anyone with heart conditions, epilepsy, or high blood pressure should not attempt this jump.
  • No prior bungee experience is needed.

About the Kushma Jump

At 228 meters above the Kaligandaki River, Kushma holds two records at once. It is the highest bungee jump in Nepal and the second-highest in the world, after the Macau Tower in China at 233 meters.

The Kaligandaki Gorge is one of the deepest gorges on earth. The exposure at 228 meters is significantly different from what you experience at Bhotekoshi.

The gorge is wide and open, with the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges visible on clear days. When you stand on that bridge, the scale of the landscape around you makes 228 meters feel like a real number, not an abstraction.

The Cliff Nepal operates the site. Since opening in October 2020, it has established itself quickly as a major adventure destination in the Gandaki region.

Requirements:

  • Minimum age: 14 years
  • Participants below 18 require written parental consent
  • Solo weight limit: 45 kg to 100 kg
  • Tandem combined weight limit: 140 kg
  • Participants with heart conditions, high blood pressure, epilepsy, nerve pain, or recent injuries should consult a doctor before booking

What the Kushma Bungee Day Looks Like

You depart from Pokhara in the morning. The drive covers roughly 60 km to Kushma and takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. The road passes through the rolling hills of Gandaki Province and follows sections of the Kaligandaki River. As you approach Kushma, the suspension bridge becomes visible from a distance, giving you an early sense of the scale of the jump ahead.

After arriving at The Cliff Nepal, the process begins with a medical check. Staff measure your blood pressure and ask about any relevant health conditions before clearing you for the activity. Once approved, jump masters record your weight and select the appropriate cord configuration for your jump.

A full safetybriefing follows. The team explains the harness system, jumping procedure, body position, and what you can expect during the freefall and rebound. Questions are encouraged before moving toward the platform.

When your turn comes, you walk out onto the 520-meter-long suspension bridge above the Kaligandaki Gorge. The views stretch across the surrounding hills and, on clear days, toward the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. After a final equipment check, you step to the edge and jump.

The freefall lasts approximately 4.5 seconds, making it noticeably longer than the experience at Bhotekoshi. The rebound follows before recovery staff assist you back to the platform.

Lunch is available at The Cliff after the jump. The return drive to Pokhara begins in the afternoon, and most participants arrive back in the city before evening.

Other Bungee Jump Options in Nepal

If you are already in Pokhara and want something even closer to the city, HighGround Adventures runs an 80-meter tower bungee at Hemja, a few kilometers north of Lakeside. It is a shorter freefall and a very different experience from either Bhotekoshi or Kushma, but the location is convenient and the logistics are simple.

Nepal's adventure tourism sector continues to grow, and new bungee destinations will open in the years ahead. As new sites meet safety standards and become available, we will add them to this page. If you have heard about a specific new jump and want to know if we run it, contact us directly!

Nepal Bungee Jumping - Multiple Options FAQs

The Bhotekoshi bungee jump at The Last Resort is 160 meters high. That puts it among Asia's top 10 highest bungee sites and historically one of the longest commercial freefalls in the world.

Nepal's Kushma bungee has since surpassed it at 228 meters, making Kushma the second-highest in the world. However, Bhotekoshi remains Nepal's original bungee site with over 20 years of operation.

The gorge setting adds a depth that height figures alone do not capture

Yes. The Last Resort has maintained a strong safety record across more than two decades of operation.

Swiss engineers designed the suspension bridge for bungee jumping with a 4x safety factor and a loading capacity of 41,500 kg. Jump masters train to international standards, and the team inspects all equipment regularly.

Before you jump, jump masters measure your weight and match the cord to your weight range.

You must be 18 or older and weigh between 40 kg and 100 kg. Anyone with heart conditions, epilepsy, or high blood pressure should not attempt this jump.

Yes. The Last Resort is about 100 km from Kathmandu, roughly 3 to 4 hours along the Araniko Highway.

Himalayan Ecstasy Nepal runs this as a complete 1-day departure from Kathmandu. The schedule covers early morning pickup, the jump, buffet lunch at the resort, and a return to the city by late afternoon.

Round-trip transport, bungee fees, and all entry fees are included. Travel insurance is not included and is your own responsibility.

Kushma is the highest bungee jump in Nepal, at 228 meters above the Kaligandaki River Gorge. That also makes it the second-highest bungee in the world, after the Macau Tower bungee in China at 233 meters.

Yes, both sites operate to international safety standards. No prior experience is needed at either location. Weight and age requirements vary by site, and both advise against participation for anyone with heart conditions, epilepsy, or high blood pressure.

Yes, both are 1-day trips. Bhotekoshi runs from Kathmandu, while Kushma runs from Pokhara. Himalayan Ecstasy Nepal operates both as fully managed day packages with pickup, lunch, and all required fees included.

Kushma is famous for being the highest bungee jump in Nepal and the second-highest bungee jump in the world. The jump takes place from a 520-meter suspension bridge above the Kaligandaki Gorge, one of the deepest gorges on earth. The combination of record-breaking height, dramatic scenery, and modern safety standards has made Kushma one of Nepal's most sought-after adventure activities.

Neither is objectively better, but they offer different experiences. Kushma is significantly higher at 228 meters and provides a longer freefall with wide-open views of the Kaligandaki Gorge. Bhotekoshi is lower at 160 meters but delivers a more enclosed and dramatic canyon experience closer to Kathmandu. If you are based in Pokhara and want the highest jump possible, Kushma is usually the preferred choice. If you are staying in Kathmandu and want a convenient day trip, Bhotekoshi makes more sense.
