Jalbire is one of those places you can't quite capture in words. Rappelling down waterfalls, sliding through rock channels worn smooth by centuries of water, plunging into cold clear jungle pools, it's a full day of the kind of adventure that's hard to find anywhere else. And because trips run from both Kathmandu and Pokhara, it slots into almost any Nepal itinerary without much fuss.

Most travelers come to Nepal for trekking or rafting, which is why canyoning often slips under the radar. That’s honestly good news for you as you get fewer crowds, more canyon.

And Jalbire? It’s hands down the best spot in the country. Think waterfall, natural rock slides, jungle cliffs, and hidden pools. It's got everything, and it delivers every time!

What makes Jalbire special isn’t just the adrenaline. It’s the setting: a jungle canyon with water thundering around you, sunlight cutting through the trees, and nothing but rock, river, and forest. It feels remote and wild, even though you’re only a few hours from a major city.

You leave Kathmandu or Pokhara in the morning, spend the day in what feels like the middle of nowhere, and return by evening with a story worth telling.

No experience? No problem. All the gear is provided, and our HEN guides know this canyon inside out. If you’ve got a day to spare and want something truly memorable, this is it. And if you’ve got more time, you can tack on a Chitwan jungle safari at the end.

Trips depart from Paddle Nepal Lakeside Center in Pokhara at 6:30 AM, with Jalbire Canyon just over three hours away. After the adventure, a private bus brings you back to Pokhara, or you can connect onward to Kathmandu Valley, Bandipur, or Chitwan by local bus.

Two Options For Canyoning in Jalbire Waterfall Trip

The trip runs from both Kathmandu and Pokhara, so it’s easy to join no matter where you’re based. A private jeep is included for a comfortable ride, but if you’d rather save on costs, a local bus can be arranged. The canyoning itself stays the same, the only difference is how you get there.

After the adventure, you’ll return to your starting point. Or, if planned in advance, you can continue straight to Chitwan for a jungle safari at an extra cost.

Canyoning in the morning, wildlife in the afternoon it’s a natural pairing that makes for a full day of adventure. Just let the team know ahead of time if you’d like to add it on.

What to Expect in Jalbire Canyoning?

  • Jalbire Canyon: Waterfalls, natural slides, clear pools, jungle wrapping around everything. It's a proper canyon, and it absolutely delivers. The kind of place that looks unreal in photos and somehow looks even better when you're actually standing in it.
  • Easy to fit in: A full-day trip from either Kathmandu or Pokhara with transport all arranged. You don't need to figure out logistics or plan anything complicated, just show up and enjoy it.
  • Chitwan Extension (Optional): If you want to keep the adventure going after the canyon, a jungle safari in Chitwan can be added on. Two very different experiences, both worth doing, and they sit naturally back to back.

How Your Day Goes

  • Morning: Early start from your hotel. The drive to Jalbire passes through some genuinely beautiful Nepali countryside, rolling hills, river valleys, and small villages. It's a good way to ease into the day before things get exciting.
  • Midday: Safety briefing, gear up, and you're in. The guides take you through the canyon section by section, rappelling down waterfalls, sliding through smooth rock channels, and jumping into natural pools. It's physical, it's exhilarating, and it moves at a pace that works for everyone in the group. Even if you're nervous at the start, that tends to disappear pretty quickly once you're actually doing it.
  • Afternoon: Lunch is provided after the canyon, and after a few hours of that kind of activity, you'll be genuinely hungry. Then it's the return transfer back to Kathmandu or Pokhara, or if you've arranged it in advance, the journey continues toward Chitwan.
