Born and raised in Mahakulung-03, Solukhumbu, Khirenj Kulung Rai is working as a Trekking and Climbing Guide at Himalayan Ecstasy Nepal.
Growing up in Solukhumbu, the heart of Nepal's Everest region, he developed a deep connection with the mountains from a very young age. His background in one of Nepal's most iconic trekking and climbing regions has given him strong field knowledge and a natural understanding of high altitude environments.
Early Career
Khirenj began his journey in the mountains the way many great guides do, through lived experience in the Himalayas.
Growing up in Khumbu Pasang Lhamu, Kharikhola, Solukhumbu, he was surrounded by some of the world's highest peaks and the culture of mountaineering from childhood. This environment inspired him to pursue a professional career in trekking and climbing peaks.
He completed his Trekking Guide Training in 2023 and has been building his skills and experience ever since, driven by a genuine passion for the mountains and a desire to share that passion with others.
Journey in the Travel Industry
Khirenj has established himself as a capable and confident high altitude guide with an impressive summit record. He has successfully summited Mt. Ama Dablam (6,814 m) twice as a certified Mountain Guide, one of the most technically demanding and visually stunning peaks in the Himalayas, as well as Lobuche Peak (6,119 m).
These achievements reflect his physical ability, technical climbing skills, and mental strength in challenging mountain conditions.
His mountaineering training, including Basic Mountain Rescue and Rock Climbing courses, has equipped him with the safety skills and technical knowledge needed to guide clients safely on high altitude routes across Nepal.

At Himalayan Ecstasy Nepal, Khirenj brings energy, youth, and real climbing experience to every expedition he leads. He is currently leading multiple climbing groups, adding to his growing list of guided high altitude experiences.

Beyond Work
Outside of guiding, Khirenj stays deeply connected to the mountains and the Kulung community he comes from. His roots in Solukhumbu continue to inspire his work and remind him of why he chose this path.
He is committed to growing as a climbing and trekking professional and looks forward to guiding many more adventurers to the summits of Nepal's magnificent peaks.
