Born and raised in Sankhuwasabha, Pasang Sherpa is working as a Senior Trekking Guide at Himalayan Ecstasy Nepal, bringing over 34 years of experience in Nepal's travel and trekking industry. He joined the company in Falgun 2048 BS and has been guiding guests ever since, specializing in treks around the Makalu region and beyond.
What makes Pasang truly special is his ability to guide in both English and French, making him a valuable asset for a wide range of international guests. He completed language courses for both English and French in Kathmandu, reaching level 5 in both languages. He has been guiding French-speaking guests since 2008.
Early Career
Pasang Sherpa's journey in the trekking industry began through a family connection. One of his relatives introduced him to portering, and his father, who worked as a cook in the mountains, played a big role in shaping his career. At just 17 years old, Pasang went on his first trek to Manaslu, accompanying his father as a sherpa.
That first experience in the mountains sparked something in him. He began working independently as a porter and kitchen boy, and over time developed a deep interest in the English language while working in camps and kitchens. That curiosity pushed him to pursue formal language training and eventually become a professional guide.
Journey in the Travel Industry
Pasang started from the very bottom, working as a porter, kitchen boy, and cook before rising through the ranks to become a sirdar and then a full trekking guide. His growth in the industry is a story of patience, hard work, and genuine passion for the mountains.
After mastering English, he went on to learn French, completing training up to level 5. Since 2008, he has been guiding French-speaking trekkers, adding a rare and valuable skill to his profile. His camping background gave him strong field knowledge and the ability to manage trekking operations smoothly in remote areas.
